On April 3rd, 2024, the Luminor Cinema in Paris hosted a remarkable event, marking the presentation of the new holiday circuit by the French travel agency “Nomade Aventure”: Timor-Leste. This event brought together a variety of participants, including representatives from Nomade Aventure Agency, journalist Jean-Bernard Carrilet, and H.E. Ambassador Jorge Trindade Neves de Camões, as well as staff from the Timor-Leste Embassy in Brussels, around 50 agency clients, some members of the press, and Timorese friends residing in Paris.
During the event, a video of the journalists’ trip to Timor-Leste was presented, highlighting the tourist attractions and local culture. There was also a Q&A session, where participants could obtain more information about the destination and clarify doubts.
Ambassador Jorge Trindade Neves de Camões then spoke, expressing his gratitude to Nomade Aventure Agency for the decision to include Timor-Leste in its portfolio of destinations. He praised the work of journalist Jean-Bernard Carillet and photographer Olivier Coret, whose article and images showcased the beauty and authenticity of the country. “The beautiful photos and videos they shared perfectly reflect the reality of my country and the kindness of my people.” Ambassador Jorge Camões also took the opportunity to share a reflection on the relationship between France and Timor-Leste, highlighting the historical and economic ties between the two countries. The reception and interest from those present were very positive, demonstrating a strong interest in exploring Timor-Leste as a tourist destination. It was also emphasized that Timor-Leste is a recent and developing country, with the ambition to welcome investment and tourism in a responsible and sustainable manner. “It is rare to find such preserved and authentic places elsewhere in the world. Timor-Leste is a land of opportunities where everyone is welcome, whether for travel, investment, or volunteering. We look forward to seeing our country become the subject of positive conversations and enthusiastically welcome your feedback after your travels.”
This was followed by a cocktail reception, where the Ambassador and the staff of the Timor-Leste Embassy in Brussels had the opportunity to share additional information about the country, its customs, ease of travel, current affairs, and answer questions from those present.
The event concluded with thanks and wishes of success for Nomade Aventure Agency, reinforcing the joint commitment to the future of Timor-Leste as an authentic and responsible adventure destination.
