Study in Belgium and Europe

  1. Education Structure in Belgium

When you study in Belgium, it is important to know that there are two language communities:

– French-speaking community

– Dutch-speaking community.

The higher education includes university education (applied sciences, engineer, medicine, law, bio-medics), and the non-university higher education (agricultural, artistic, accounting, maritime, paramedical, touristic, teaching, technical and translation/interpretation) which is a continuation of secondary education (young people within the age range 12-18).

The academic year starts in September and ends in June. There is the possibility of additional examinations in August-September.

To apply to a university of applied sciences and engineer it is required an additional admissions exam.

  1. General conditions for admission

1- Authenticate the diploma and the school records at the Belgian Consulate.

2- Ask to grant the degree equivalence of the diploma giving access to post-secondary education in Belgium. Obtaining the equivalence implies a long procedure and it is necessary to request before going to Belgium. It is needed to have the most certificates and documents related to the school curriculum.

a) Procedure

Introduce the documents on the Equivalence Department of the language communities.

Introduce the documents on the chosen higher education institution (University or Higher education), which will allow you to obtain a proof of registration.

b) Deadlines

From 15 November to 15 July of the academic year before the registration (deadlines may vary from university).

c) Costs

Verify within the University or Higher School.
